What You Need to Know About Migraines and How to Treat Them

Migraines can rear their head (no pun intended) at any time and can last for several hours or days. Some people struggle with migraines as often as once or twice per week while others may experience them only once or twice per year. Women’s Health reported that 29.5 million Americans are affected by migraine pain and symptoms – but what exactly is a migraine and how do you treat it?

A migraine headache is usually an intense, throbbing pain on one or both sides of the head. Most people feel pain in the temples or behind their eyes or ears that can last for a few hours or even days. Migraines can also cause severe vomiting, nausea or sensitivity to light and sound, which causes some people to see spots, flashing lights or experience temporary loss of vision. Migraines should not be disregarded, as these attacks can interfere with day-to-day life.

Although the root cause of most migraines is not fully understood, medical researchers believe the abnormal changes in levels of substances that are naturally produced in the brain may be a factor. One thing we know for certain is that people with migraines react to a variety of factors called triggers. These triggers can include any of the following:

  • Stress and anxiety

  • Weather changes

  • Lack-of or too much sleep

  • Skipped meals

  • Hormone changes

  • Alcohol

  • Caffeine (withdrawal or too much)

  • Bright lights, loud noises or strong odors

Treating migraines can prove to be a challenge. Although prescription medications can be given to you by your doctor, a more modern take on western medicine is the use of IV infusions. Using IV therapy to help treat the effects of migraines is a more proactive way to reduce pain symptoms while replenishing your body with vitamins.

Liquid Assets offers a Migraine Relief IV infusion to help treat and reverse any inflammation caused by migraines and decrease irritation of the nerve endings. Patients can get an additional dose of Toradol added to this regimen, which helps decrease prostaglandins, substances in your body that cause inflammation. It is used for moderate to severe pain, is not addictive and is very powerful – usually lasting in the system for up to five days.

Using an alternate form of medicine like our Migraine Relief infusion can help reduce your pain symptoms and bring your body back to its full potential. Next time you experience a migraine, give us a call at 855-234-WELL, and we will reverse those nagging symptoms!
